Saint Mary's battles Kent State in mid-major showdown

MORAGA, California (Ticker) - Saint Mary's has had little trouble disposing West Coast Conference foes this season.

However, on Saturday, No. 20 Saint Mary's faces a tough non-conference matchup against Kent State.

The Gaels (23-3, 10-1) have suffered just one loss against WCC opponents this season and are currently tied with Gonzaga for first place.

Saint Mary's completed a six-game win streak with a 100-64 victory over Pepperdine on Monday - reaching triple digits for the first time this season. The Gaels shot 58 percent from the field while making 17-of-29 3-pointers.

Kent State (22-5, 11-2 MAC) has flown largely under the radar this season but enter Saturday's game on a five-game winning streak, which includes a 76-66 victory over Buffalo on Tuesday.

Al Fisher poured in 20 points to lead the Golden Flashes and is the team's leading scorer, averaging 13.9 points per game this season.
