Xavier rides 10-game winning streak into Dayton
Feb 24, 2008 - 3:21 PM No. 12 Xavier (23-4) at Dayton (17-8) 2:00 pm ESTDAYTON, Ohio (Ticker) -- No. 12 Xavier goes for its 11th consecutive victory Sunday against Dayton in an Atlantic-10 Conference matchup.
The Musketeers (23-4, 11-1 A-10) are coming off their most lopsided conference win of the season, a 75-48 triumph over Duquesne on Thursday.
That win eclipsed the 69-43 throttling Xavier gave then-No. 19 Dayton on January 24, the second win during the Musketeers' current winning streak.
Four players scored in double figures - none more than 13 points - in Thursday's win that improved Xavier to 17-0 when at least four players score 10 points. Josh Duncan leads six players who average double figures at 11.6 points per game.
The Flyers (17-8, 5-7) enjoyed a 13-game winning streak earlier this season but have lost seven of their last 10, including an 81-78 overtime setback to La Salle on Thursday.
Dayton's leading scorer, Brian Roberts, had 30 points in the defeat and is averaging 19.4 per contest.
