Washington State seeking revenge vs. California

Feb 28, 2008 - 12:20 PM No. 22 Washington St (21-6) at California (15-10) 11:00 pm EST

BERKELEY, California (Ticker) -- Despite owning a Top 25 ranking and third place in the Pac-10 conference, No. 22 Washington State failed to get past California during the first meeting this season.

Washington State looks to avenge that setback when it visits California on Thursday.

The Cougars (21-6, 9-6) started the season 14-0 before suffering their first loss of the season to UCLA on January 12. After winning three of its next four games, Washington State endured its first home loss, 69-64, to California on January 31.

Washington State had a four-game winning streak snapped Saturday during a 65-55 loss to Arizona. Taylor Rochestie scored 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead the Cougars.

California (15-10, 6-8) is hoping it can duplicate its earlier performance against Washington State to snap out of one of its worst stretches this season.

The Golden Bears suffered their third setback in four games Sunday, falling, 79-69, to then-No. 9 Stanford. California shot just 39 percent from the field and committed 27 personal fouls.
