Top 25 roundup: No. 1 Villanova blasts Temple

Dec 14, 2017 - 4:53 AM PHILADELPHIA -- Jalen Brunson scored a career-high 31 points, and No. 1 Villanova swept the Big 5 portion of its schedule for the fifth consecutive season with an 87-67 victory over Temple on Wednesday at the Liacouras Center.

Omari Spellman added a career-high 27 points on 11-of-14 shooting, and Donte DiVincenzo had 12 points for the Wildcats (11-0), who won their 22nd in a row in Big 5 games against Temple, La Salle, Saint Joseph's and Penn. Villanova shot 60 percent from the field.

Quinton Rose led Temple (6-3) with a career-high 27 points while Josh Brown added 12. Shizz Alston Jr. had 10.

The Wildcats jumped out to a 46-29 advantage at halftime and never looked back. They hit 11 of their first 18 shots in the second half.



No. 9 Texas A&M 113, Savannah State 66

COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- DJ Hogg scored 18 points as Texas A&M routed Savannah State.

Tyler Davis racked up his second double-double with 13 points and 17 rebounds in only 24 minutes. Tonny Trocha-Morelos scored 10, set career high with seven assists and tied a career high with 13 rebounds for the Aggies (9-1).

The Tigers (3-9) are in the midst of one of the toughest nonconference schedules in the country with games next against No. 21 Baylor, No. 16 Virginia and No. 2 Michigan State before beginning Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play.



No. 24 Texas Tech 82, Kennesaw State 53

LUBBOCK, Texas -- Texas Tech won its first game as a ranked team this season, racing past Kennesaw State.

Keenan Evans scored 16 points to lead four Red Raiders in double digits. Tommy Hamilton and Zhaire Smith each finished with 11 and Justin Gray added 10 for Texas Tech (8-1), which led by 30 in the first half. The Red Raiders debuted in the Top 25 two weeks ago before losing to Seton Hall 89-76 at Madison Square Garden in New York.

James Scott led the Owls (1-8) with 19 points.
