Mar 1, 2008 - 11:09 AM West Virginia (20-8) at No. 16 Connecticut (22-6) 12:00 pm EST

STORRS, Connecticut (Ticker) -- No. 16 Connecticut remains mathematically alive in the race for first place in the Big East Conference. A loss on West Virginia on Saturday will end any championship hopes.

UConn (22-6, 11-4) is 1 1/2 games behind Georgetown (13-3) and Louisville (13-3) with three conference games left. The Huskies are tied with Notre Dame (11-4) for third place.

One of the hottest teams in the country, UConn has won 11 of its last 12 games. The Huskies rebounded from a loss at Villanova last Saturday with a 79-61 victory at Rutgers on Tuesday. The game marked the return of sophomore guard Jerome Dyson from a nine-game suspension.

UConn, which is 14-1 overall at home and 6-1 in conference play, is playing the Mountaineers (20-8, 9-6) for the first time at home since February 2004.

Junior forward Jeff Adrien leads the Huskies with 14.9 points and 9.3 rebounds per game. Junior guard A.J. Price averages 14.7 points and 6.2 assists.

West Virginia is coming off an 85-73 victory at DePaul on Wednesday. Junior forwards Joe Alexander and Alex Ruoff average 14.5 and 14.1 points, respectively, for the Mountaineers.

The Huskies lead the all-time series, 11-3.
