No. 6 Kansas aims to take control of Big 12

Mar 3, 2008 - 7:03 PM Texas Tech (16-12) at No. 6 Kansas (26-3) 9:00 pm EST

LAWRENCE, Kansas (Ticker) -- Tied for first place in the Big 12 Conference, sixth-ranked Kansas faces Texas Tech on Monday in its final regular-season home game.

The Jayhawks (26-3, 11-3 Big 12) are deadlocked with Texas atop the conference standings, and each team has two games left.

Kansas has won three conference titles in a row. But the Longhorns hold the tiebreaker if the teams finished tied courtesy of a 72-69 win over the Jayhawks on February 11.

"Hopefully we can make it a one-game season, or at least a one-game conference season," Kansas coach Bill Self said.

The Jayhawks are 7-0 at home in conference games and 19-0 overall. Kansas has won 23 consecutive home games, including Saturday's 88-74 victory over Kansas State that avenged an earlier loss to the Wildcats.

The Red Raiders (16-12, 7-7) are coming off an 83-80 home win over Texas on Saturday that ended the Longhorns' eight-game winning streak.

Texas Tech was coming off its worst loss in school history, 98-54, at Texas A&M on Wednesday.
