Kansas eyeing Big 12 title vs. Texas A&M

Mar 8, 2008 - 1:55 PM No. 6 Kansas (27-3) at Texas A&M (22-8) 4:00 pm EST

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (Ticker) - After an historic victory, No. 3 Kansas has its sights set on yet another Big 12 regular-season title.

Kansas aims for at least a share of the Big 12 Conference title Saturday when it visits Texas A&M.

The Jayhawks (27-3, 12-3) are coming off the widest margin of victory in Big 12 history after posting a 109-51 drubbing of Texas Tech on Monday. Kansas shot nearly 60 percent from the field and had six players score in double figures with 15 of the 16 players on the team notching at least two points.

Kansas is currently tied with No. 9 Texas (25-5, 12-3) for first-place in the Big 12. Texas concludes its regular season on Sunday when it hosts Oklahoma State.

If both the Longhorns and the Jayhawks can forge victories in their respective finales, the two teams would share the regular season title. However, Texas would claim the No. 1 seed in the Big 12 Tournament on the strength of its 72-69 win over Kansas during the teams' only matchup on February 11.

Texas A&M (22-8, 8-7) has bounced back from a three-game losing streak with two wins in its last three games, including a 71-57 victory over Baylor on Wednesday. Josh Carter and Donald Sloan each scored 17 points to lead the Aggies.
