Xavier looks to start new winning streak
Mar 8, 2008 - 2:28 PM Richmond (16-12) at No. 11 Xavier (25-5) 7:00 pm ESTCINCINNATI (Ticker) - No. 11 Xavier hopes to get back into the win column before the Atlantic 10 Conference tournament when they host Richmond in the regular season finale for both teams on Saturday.
The Musketeers (25-5, 13-2) had their 11-game winning streak come to an end Thursday in a 71-66 loss at Saint Joseph's.
Derrick Brown, who scored 18 points, was the only player in double figures for Xavier, which has six players averaging 9.9 points or more per game. Josh Duncan leads the team at 11.5 per contest.
The Spiders (16-12, 9-6) are coming off a 58-53 victory over Fordham on Wednesday and are tied for third place in the conference with Massachusetts (9-6) and Saint Joseph's (9-6).
Dan Geriot and freshman Kevin Anderson each had 14 points in the win, and Geriot leads the team in scoring at 14.4 points per game.
Xavier has won the last five meetings between the teams.
