Michigan State visits Ohio State in Big Ten finale

Mar 9, 2008 - 1:27 PM No. 18 Michigan St (24-6) at Ohio St (18-12) 12:00 pm EDT

COLUMBUS, Ohio (Ticker) - Michigan State wraps up its regular season Sunday when they visit Ohio State in a Big Ten Conference matchup.

The contest will be a preview of the Big Ten tournament quarterfinals which begins next week, as neither team can improve its position in the standings. The Spartans (12-5 Big Ten) are in fourth place and the Buckeyes (9-8) are in fifth.

Michigan State has won its last two games, including a 59-51 victory at Illinois on Thursday. Drew Neitzel scored 17 points to pace the Spartans in that win.

Sunday's game might be more meaningful for the Buckeyes, who are in desperate need of wins to improve their NCAA Tournament chances.

Ohio State is coming off an 80-77 overtime victory over Purdue on Tuesday, which snapped a four-game losing streak. Jamar Butler scored 25 points in the victory to lead the Buckeyes.

The Spartans won the first meeting this season, 66-60, on January 15.
