Villanova seeks revenge, marquee win against Georgetown

NEW YORK (Ticker) - The last time Villanova played played Georgetown, a very questionable call may have cost the Wildcats a chance at a marquee win.

On Thursday, Villanova will get another shot at the ninth-ranked Hoyas and a chance to improve its NCAA Tournament hopes in the Big East Conference quarterfinals.

The Wildcats lost at Georgetown, 55-53, on February 11 after Jonathan Wallace made two free throws with one-tenth of a second to play following a bumping foul called 70 feet from the basket on Villanova freshman Corey Stokes.

The eighth-seeded Wildcats advanced to get their second shot at the Hoyas following an 82-63 victory over Syracuse in the opening round of the conference tournament on Wednesday. Scottie Reynolds, who had 22 points and six assists in the win, leads the team in scoring at 15.6 per game.

Georgetown, which won the Big East tournament last season, earned the top seed this season after a 55-52 victory over Louisville on Saturday. The Cardinals are the second seed in the tournament.

Roy Hibbert leads the team in scoring and rebounding at 13.6 and 6.4 per contest, respectively, while DaJuan Summers is averaging 11.2 points per game.

The winner of the game will face the winner of Connecticut and West Virginia in Friday's semifinals.
