BYU seeking revenge vs. San Diego State

LAS VEGAS (Ticker) - Brigham Young University is ready to claim its retribution.

The 23rd-ranked Cougars look to advance to their second straight Mountain West tournament final on Friday when they meet San Diego State.

BYU hasn't lost often this season, but suffered a setback during the last meeting with San Diego State, 69-65, on February 23. The Cougars attempted just six free throws against the Aztecs, who made 17-of-30 shots from the free-throw line.

The Cougars responded to the loss with five straight wins, including a 89-62 drubbing against Colorado State during their quarterfinal matchup on Thursday. Lee Cummard scored 18 points to lead five players in double figures for BYU, which didn't allow any opposing players to reach double digits in scoring.

San Diego State avenged its own loss during a quarterfinal meeting with Air Force. The Aztecs endured a narrow three-point loss to the Falcons in their last game of the season before forging a 53-49 victory on Thursday.

Ryan Amoroso scored 15 points to lead the way for San Diego State while the team's leading scorer, Lorrenzo Wade, who is averaging 15 points per game, added 12 points.
