CHARLOTTESVILLE, Virginia (Ticker) -- Virginia will not have an easy time of it when it opens the John Paul Jones Arena on Sunday.

Virginia starts the season in the new building against No. 10 Arizona. The new arena replaces University Hall which was 41-years old.

The Cavaliers look to build on last seasons 15-15 record and National Invitation Tournament bid. Stanford defeated Virginia 65-49 in the first round.

Virginia returns all five starters from last season, including Sean Singletary and J.R. Reynolds. Singletary averaged 17.7 points and 4.2 assists and Reynolds averaged 17 points.

Arizona advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament last year, losing to No. 1 seed Villanova 82-78.

The Wildcats are lead by senior Mustafa Shakur who averaged 11.2 points and 4.7 assists last season.

Entering his 24th year as Arizona coach, Hall of famer Lute Olson will be counting on his veterans for leadership. They only have three seniors on their roster.

This is the 19th time in the last 20 seasons the Wildcats have been nationally ranked to start the season.
