Florida goes for sixth straight win over Jacksonville

GAINESVILLE, Florida (Ticker) - Top-ranked Florida seeks its sixth consecutive victory over Jacksonville in a non-conference matchup Thursday.

The Gators have several streaks going besides the one against the Dolphins. Florida has won 22 straight non-conference games, including 15 in a row here. The defending national champions also are riding a 13-game overall winning streak.

The Gators have defeated the Dolphins in each of the past two campaigns, the latter a 101-58 rout in which Corey Brewer became the first player to register a triple-double in the school's history. He had 15 points, 13 assists and 10 rebounds.

Florida upped its winning streak against in-state competition to seven following an 86-40 victory over North Florida on Tuesday. Al Horford collected 17 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks and Joakim Noah added 15 and 10 for the Gators, who shot 54 percent (36-of-67) from the floor.

Jacksonville bounced back from a season-opening loss to post a 77-73 win over St. Leo on Tuesday. Marcus Allen scored 20 points, grabbed nine rebounds and blocked six shots.

Jesse Kimbrough added 16 points and four steals for the Dolphins, who forced 20 turnovers.
