Alabama faces Middle Tennessee State in Paradise Jam
Nov 17, 2006 - 3:19 PM Middle Tenn (1-1) at No. 11 Alabama (1-0) 1:00 pm ESTST. THOMAS, Virgin Islands (Ticker) - Alabama faces Middle Tennessee State in the opening round of the Paradise Jam on Friday.
The 11th-ranked Crimson Tide will have to begin the tournament without Jermareo Davidson, whose girlfriend passed away in after an auto accident last weekend in Atlanta. After attending her funeral in Alabama on Friday, Davidson is expected to join the team Saturday.
Alabama opened the 2006-07 season with a 96-65 rout of Jackson State a week ago.
Mykal Riley had 17 points and Alonzo Gee added 16 for the Crimson Tide, who shot 52 percent (36-of-69) overall.
The Blue Raiders rebounded from a season-opening loss with a 60-47 victory over Cumberland University.
Calvin O'Neil scored 14 points and Theryn Hudson added 12 for Middle Tennessee State, which held a 36-26 rebounding advantage.
