Kentucky's Smith coaches 500th career game
Nov 17, 2006 - 3:21 PM Miss Valley St (0-2) at No. 22 Kentucky (1-0) 7:00 pm ESTLEXINGTON, Kentucky (Ticker) - Tubby Smith will be standing on the sidelines for the 500th time as a head coach when Kentucky hosts Mississippi Valley State on Friday.
This will be Smith's 314th game at Kentucky, but his 500th as the man in charge of the play-calling.
The 22nd-ranked Wildcats used a 10-0 run late to post a 57-46 victory over Miami of Ohio on Wednesday.
Joe Crawford scored 18 points and grabbed six rebounds and Randolph Morris added 12 and 10 for Kentucky, which held the Red Hawks to 31-percent (15-of-48) shooting overall.
The Delta Devils endured their second consecutive loss to start the season after a 78-42 setback to Creighton on Monday.
Demarkus Barnes had 10 points and seven boards and was the only player to reach double figures in scoring for Mississippi Valley State, which is in the middle of a six-game road trip.
This will be the first meeting between the programs.
