LSU goes for second straight victory
Nov 19, 2006 - 3:55 PM UL Monroe (2-1) at No. 7 LSU (1-0) 4:00 pm ESTBATON ROUGE, Louisiana (Ticker) -- LSU looks for its second straight victory on Sunday when it hosts Louisiana-Monroe.
The Tigers certainly did not get much of a test in their season opener. Darnell Lazare led LSU with 16 points and 10 rebounds for his first career double-double as the Tigers cruised to a 96-42 triumph over Nicholls St.
Glen Davis and Garrett Temple each added 16 points while Tasmin Mitchell chipped in with 14 for LSU, which shot 56 percent from the field.
LA-Monroe comes off a 76-64 triumph over Cal-Riverside on Sunday. Lance Brasher led the Warhawks with 22 points and while grabbing 11 rebounds.
The Warhawks took over with a 17-4 run in the first half and led 41-33 at halftime. Tony Hooper added 15 points for LA-Monroe, which plays four roads games against Southeastern Conference opponents in the next month.
