Wisconsin hosts Southern in South Padre Invitational
Nov 19, 2006 - 4:09 PM Southern (0-1) at No. 9 Wisconsin (2-0) 5:00 pm ESTMADISON, Wisconsin (Ticker) -- The Wisconsin Badgers look for their third straight victory when its hosts Southern in the first round of the South Padre Invitational Basketball Tournament on Sunday.
The Badgers come off an easy 79-62 victory over Wisconsin-Green Bay on Wednesday. Wisconsin wasted little time in taking control as it raced out to a 22-4 lead. The Phoenix did get as close as 11 points but never threatened the Badgers.
Alando Tucker led the Badgers with 18 points and he also grabbed four rebounds. Michael Flowers and Kammron Taylor each added 12 points for Wisconsin, which shot 26-of-56 (46 percent) from the floor.
Southern opened its season on November 10 and was routed by Georgia, 97-37. Chris Davis led Southern with 12 points while Steffon Wiley added six points.
Southern shot 14-of-52 (27 percent) from the field against Georgia.
