Marquette, Texas Tech meet in semifinals of CBE Classic
Nov 20, 2006 - 3:58 PM No. 17 Marquette (4-0) at Texas Tech (4-0) 9:30 pm ESTKANSAS CITY, Missouri (Ticker) -- Marquette and Texas Tech do battle in the semifinals of the CBE Classic on Monday.
Both of these clubs have run into tough tests prior to their matchup.
The 17th-ranked Golden Eagles had quite a challenge against Idaho State a week ago. But they rebounded to rout Detroit on Tuesday and rolled past Eastern Michigan, 95-62, on Saturday.
Dominic James scored 17 points and handed out six assists and Wesley Matthews added 15 for Marquette, which forced 26 turnovers.
The Red Raiders had their test more recently , an 85-81 win over North Dakota State on Friday.
Jarrius Jackson netted 26 points and Martin Zeno finished with 20 points, seven rebounds, six assists and three steals for Texas Tech, which allowed North Dakota State to shoot 55 percent (33-of-60).
With a victory, Red Raiders coach Bobby Knight (873) can move within two of Adolph Rupp and five of Dean Smith for first on the all-time win list.
