UCLA, Chaminade meet in first round of Maui Invitational

MAUI, Hawaii (Ticker) -- UCLA and Chaminade square off in the final matchup of the opening round of the Maui Invitational on Monday.

After three top-25 teams do battle, the fifth-ranked Bruins take on the Silverswords, who will play their first game of the season.

UCLA started its campaign with an 82-69 victory over Brigham Young on Wednesday. Luc Richard Mbah a Moute collected 24 points, 11 rebounds, three steals and two blocks for the Bruins, who shot 50 percent (28-of-56) from the field.

Darren Collison scored 16 points and handed out 10 assists and Josh Shipp added 13 for UCLA, which controlled the boards, 29-19, while owning a 14-2 edge on the offensive glass.

Zack Whiting, the lone senior on the team, was the second-leading scorer (14.1) for Chaminade last season.
