Alabama, Xavier meet in Paradise Jam title game
Nov 20, 2006 - 6:58 PM No. 9 Alabama (3-0) at Xavier (3-0) 8:30 pm ESTST. THOMAS, Virgin Islands (Ticker) -- Alabama and Xavier meet for the championship of the 2006 Paradise Jam on Monday.
The ninth-ranked Crimson Tide qualified for the title game after posting a 72-60 victory over Iowa on Sunday. Alonzo Gee scored 21 points and Ronald Steele added 18 and six assists for Alabama, which shot 51 percent (26-of-51) from the field.
Jermareo Davidson provided a big emotional boost in his return to the team, contributing 15 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks.
The 6-10 senior forward returned to the team after missing the previous game due to the death of his girlfriend in Atlanta last weekend.
The Musketeers punched their ticket with a 71-66 win over Villanova on Sunday. Stanley Burrell scored 26 points, Josh Duncan added 10 and Justin Doellman finished with nine and eight boards for Xavier, which drained 6-of-13 3-pointers.
