Texas A&M hopes to remain unbeaten vs. Idaho State

Nov 25, 2006 - 3:55 PM Idaho St (1-3) at No. 10 Texas A&M (4-0) 3:00 pm EST

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (Ticker) -- Texas A&M's stellar defense continues to produce wins.

The 10th-ranked Aggies will look to continue their early success when they host Idaho State on Saturday.

Texas A&M has locked down its opponents on defense, allowing just 50.3 points per game and 28.3 percent shooting from the field. As a result, the Aggies have won their first four games and are off to their best start in nearly 27 years.

Texas A&M was last ranked in the top 10 in 1979, and only one other time - a four-week span in the 1959-60 season.

Acie Law scored 23 points and had six rebounds as the Aggies posted a 69-33 victory over Saint Louis in the final of the Shelby Metcalf Classic on Sunday.

Using its stifling defense, Texas A&M held the Billikens to 11 total field goals, including just four in the first half when they took a 34-13 halftime lead. For the game, Saint Louis shot just 21 percent (11-of-53).

The Bengals have struggled so far this season, losing three of their first four contests - all on the road. The guard trio of David Schroeder, Akbar Abdul-Ahad and Matt Stucki combined to score 41 points in Idaho State's 66-60 loss to Washington State on Tuesday.

The Aggies won the only meeting between the teams, 87-69, on December 2, 1979.
