No. 8 Duke tries to rebound from first loss vs. Davidson

Nov 25, 2006 - 3:59 PM Davidson (4-2) at No. 8 Duke (4-1) 7:00 pm EST

DURHAM, North Carolina (Ticker) -- Still smarting from its first loss of the season, Duke is looking to take out its frustration on its next opponent.

DeMarcus Nelson and Josh McRoberts attempt to improve their shooting accuracy for the eighth-ranked Blue Devils, who try to post their 20th consecutive victory over Davidson on Saturday.

After recording its 1,800th victory last Monday against Air Force, Duke shot just 38 percent (20-of-58) form the floor in Tuesday's 73-62 loss to Marquette in the final of the CBE Classic.

The team's leading scorer (14.8) and the Most Valuable Player of the tournament's Durham Regional, Nelson hit 5-of-12 shots and scored 13 points. McRoberts was just 4-of-16 and added 15 points.

Davidson has won three of its last four contests, including Tuesday's 99-69 triumph over Colby. It was the Wildcats' second-highest point total of the campaign.

Stephen Curry hit 9-of-20 3-pointers - both school records - and scored 29 points, while Jason Richards added 20 and 16 assists to set career highs in both categories.

Duke has won 19 straight meetings against Davidson and 29 of the last 30 encounters at home. The Blue Devils also have the nation's third-longest winning streak at home against non-conference opponents (43), trailing Illinois (51) and Oklahoma (48).
