Wisconsin coach Ryan seeks 500th win

Nov 25, 2006 - 4:56 PM Auburn (2-1) vs. No. 7 Wisconsin (4-1) 3:00 pm EST

SOUTH PADRE ISLAND, TEXAS (Ticker) -- Coach Bo Ryan will get another crack at his 500th career win on Saturday.

After being upset by Missouri State in the semifinals of the South Padre Invitational, No. 7 Wisconsin will face Auburn in the consolation game on Saturday.

Ryan got his 499th career victory in Wisconsin's 64-52 triumph over Delaware State in the quarterfinals. But the bid for 500 did not come against Missouri State, which edged the Badgers, 66-64, on Friday.

Ryan would become the 15th active Division I coach to record 500 wins if Wisconsin beats the Tigers in the third-place game.

Alando Tucker scored 26 points, including 17 in the second half, in Friday's loss. Tucker missed a 3-pointer from the corner that would have tied it in the closing seconds.

Michael Flowers was the only other Badger in double figures, scoring 10 points with six assists.

Auburn lost to Oklahoma State, 66-65, on Friday in the semifinals. Korvotney Barker scored 19 points and Quantez Robertson added 16 for the Tigers.
