Calathes, Florida host Bradley

GAINESVILLE, Florida (Ticker) -- Florida looks to go 2-0 when it hosts Bradley in the CBE Classic on Sunday.

The Gators (1-0) opened the season on Friday with an 80-58 victory over Toledo and have started at least 5-0 the last three seasons.

Junior Dan Werner scored 19 points and sophomore point guard Nick Calathes added 16 and seven assists as Florida shot 53 percent (27-of-51) from the field.

The victory was impressive for the Gators, who are coming off an appearance in the NIT semifinals last season after winning back-to-back NCAA Tournament titles. Florida is hoping to be improved during the new campaign with much of its younger players more experienced.

The Braves (1-0) won their season opener, 67-61, against Illinois-Chicago on Friday.

Dodie Dunson scored 21 points as Bradley rallied from an eight-point second-half deficit.
