Reynolds, shorthanded Villanova to clash with Fordham

Nov 17, 2008 - 3:05 PM Fordham (0-1) at (23) Villanova (1-0) 7:30 pm. EST

VILLANOVA, Pennsylvania (Ticker) -- Scottie Reynolds and shorthanded No. 23 Villanova host Fordham in the second of eight straight games in Philadelphia on Monday.

The Wildcats' depth is being tested early, as guard Dwayne Anderson is out indefinitely with a stress fracture in his left foot and forward Shane Clark is out three to six weeks following arthroscopic knee surgery.

As a result, Villanova (1-0) will need Reynolds, who averaged a team-best 15.9 points last season, to carry the load. He scored all of his 13 points in the second half in a 78-60 win over Albany on Friday.

Corey Stokes and Dante Cunningham added 13 apiece for the Wildcats, who play five home games and three games at the Palestra before hitting the road to face No. 7 Texas on December 9.

The Rams (0-1) shouldn't pose much of a threat to the Wildcats. Fordham opened the season with a 65-62 loss to Columbia on Friday.

Villanova has an easy non-conference schedule, which should help ease the injury crunch. The Wildcats will face Niagara, Monmouth and Towson before a matchup with Pennsylvania.

Villanova has won four straight meetings with Fordham and holds an 11-8 advantage in the all-time series.
