Ryan tries to guide Wisconsin past Florida State

Nov 28, 2006 - 2:06 PM Florida St (4-1) at No. 13 Wisconsin (5-1) 7:30 pm EST

MADISON, Wisconsin (Ticker) - Now that Wisconsin coach Bo Ryan has joined the 500-win club, he turns his attention to the ACC-Big Ten Challenge.

Ryan looks to guide the 13th-ranked Badgers to just their third win in eight games in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge on Tuesday when they host Florida State.

Coaching his sixth season at Wisconsin, Ryan became the 15th active coach in Division I to record 500 victories. However, he has dropped four of five battles against the ACC in the Challenge.

After losing by two points to Missouri State at the South Padre Island Invitational, the Badgers enabled Ryan to reach his milestone with Saturday's 77-63 victory over Auburn.

Kammron Taylor scored 16 points, Alando Tucker added 15 and Jason Bohannon 10 for Wisconsin, which is 38-3 at home against non-conference teams under Ryan.

Florida State has won all four games in the Challenge under coach Leonard Hamilton and five of seven overall against Big Ten foes. The Seminoles crushed Purdue, 97-57, in the event last season.

Toney Douglas scored 23 points, Al Thornton added 16 and Uche Echefu 13 for Florida State, which had its four-game winning snapped with Friday's 88-66 loss against Pittsburgh.

Wisconsin won the only previous encounter against Florida State, 64-63, on December 4, 1961.
