Texas takes on intrastate foe Texas Southern
Nov 28, 2006 - 2:24 PM Texas Southern (1-4) at No. 25 Texas (4-1) 8:00 pm ESTAUSTIN, Texas (Ticker) - No. 25 Texas looks to improve to 5-1 this season when it hosts Texas Southern on Tuesday.
The Longhorns are coming off an easy 91-60 triumph over Nicholls State last Tuesday.
A.J. Abrams led the Longhorns with 23 points while Kevin Durant added 21. Abrams shot 8-of-15 from the field, including 7-of-12 from the ark.
The Longhorns shot 47 percent from the field while holding Nicholls State to 33 percent.
The Tigers were blown out by No. 8 Alabama on Saturday, 74-44 Alabama. Just about the lone bright spot for Texas Southern was Sollie Norwood, who scored 16 points.
Jacques Jones collected 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Tigers, who shot only 29 percent from the floor and made just 4-of-14 3-pointers.
