Kansas tries to avoid letdown vs. Dartmouth

Nov 28, 2006 - 2:26 PM Dartmouth (0-5) at No. 5 Kansas (5-1) 8:00 pm EST

LAWRENCE, Kansas (Ticker) - Kansas may have a tougher time than usual getting mentally prepared for its next opponent.

Coming off a win over the defending NCAA champion, the fifth-ranked Jayhawks go for their sixth victory in seven contests Tuesday in their first all-time matchup against winless Dartmouth.

Kansas recorded its first win over the nation's No. 1 team in nearly 12 years with Saturday's 82-80 overtime triumph over Florida in the final of the Las Vegas Invitational.

Julian Wright scored a career-high 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds en route to his selection as tournament Most Valuable Player and Big 12 Conference Player of the Week.

Freshman Darrell Arthur scored 19 points with nine boards and Brandon Rush and Mario Chalmers added 13 points apiece for the Jayhawks, who are 167-11 at home since the 1994-1995 campaign.

Coming off last season's 6-21 mark, Dartmouth is averaging just 54.4 points while allowing 78.0 in its five defeats.

Jason Meyer hit 8-of-14 shots and scored 18 points and Jonathan Ball added 12 for the Big Green, which shot just 15 percent (4-of-26) in the first half of Saturday's 60-50 loss to Hartford.
