UCLA returns from Maui to meet Long Beach State

LOS ANGELES (Ticker) - UCLA is back from a victorious trip to Hawaii and is ready to get back to work on the mainland.

Arron Afflalo and Darren Collison look to lead the second-ranked Bruins to their 11th victory in as many meetings against Long Beach State when the teams battle on Tuesday.

UCLA opened the EA Sports Maui Invitational with triumphs over Chaminade and Kentucky before capturing the tournament title with Wednesday's 88-73 win over Georgia Tech.

Afflalo scored 19 points and Collison added 15 on his way to being named the tournament Most Valuable Player. Luc Richard Mbah a Moute had 14 points and Lorenzo Mata grabbed 11 rebounds for the Bruins, who shot 58 percent (31-of-53) from the floor.

Long Beach State recorded victories over San Jose State and Cal State-Bakersfield before a dismal shooting performance in Friday's 71-60 loss to Southern California.

Aaron Nixon scored 13 points, Tim Island had 12 and Dominique Ricks grabbed 13 rebounds for the 49ers, who shot only 29 percent (20-of-69) and were outrebounded, 58-41.
