Wake Forest faces another NC opponent
Nov 19, 2008 - 11:18 AM North Carolina-Wilmington (2-0) at No. 25 Wake Forest (1-0) 7:00 p.m. ESTWINSTON-SALEM, North Carolina (Ticker) -- Wake Forest continues its stretch against in-state foes when it hosts North Carolina-Wilmington on Wednesday.
The 25th-ranked Demon Deacons opened the season with a 94-48 victory over North Carolina Central and will host Winston Salem State on Monday before heading to a holiday tournament, the 76 Classic, in Anaheim.
Freshman Al-Farouq Aminu starred in his debut with Wake Forest, totaling 21 points and 10 rebounds.
James Johnson added 18 and 10 as the Demon Deacons roared to a 26-point halftime lead.
NC Wilmington has won a pair of shootouts so far, scoring more than 100 points in each game thanks in part to Chad Tomko. The sophomore guard is averaging 30 points, six assists and five steals.
Johnny Wolf and Dominique Lacy have also helped the Seahawks to a fast start, averaging 23.5 and 22 points per contest, respectively.
