Harangody, Notre Dame gearing up for Maui

Nov 21, 2008 - 11:23 AM No. 9 Notre Dame (1-0) at Loyola Marymount (0-3), 10:00 p.m. EST

LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- Luke Harangody and ninth-ranked Notre Dame make a rare trip to the West Coast to take on Loyola Marymount on Friday.

It will be the first time since February 28, 2004 that the Fighting Irish (1-0) pay a visit to the Los Angeles area. Notre Dame will head further west to Hawaii next week when the Maui Invitational begins.

Notre Dame won its opener, 94-58, over USC Upstate on Sunday, setting a school record with its 38th consecutive home victory.

The reigning Big East Player of the Year, Harangody recorded his 26th career double-double with 30 points and 14 rebounds. He shot 12-of-19 from the floor and made his fourth career 3-pointer.

Loyola Marymount (0-3), which is coming off a 5-26 campaign, lost all three contests in the World Vision Classic from November 14-16.

Vernon Teel is averaging 19.0 points and 9.3 rebounds to lead the Lions, who lost their most recent game, 64-55, to UC Davis on Sunday.
