Griffin eyeing another dominant performance

Nov 22, 2008 - 11:15 AM Gardner-Webb (0-2) at No. 14 Oklahoma (3-0) 2:00 p.m. EST

NORMAN, Oklahoma (Ticker) -- Blake Griffin is living up to the hype.

Griffin and 14th-ranked Oklahoma look for their fourth straight win on Saturday when they host Gardner-Webb.

Considered one of the top candidates for Player of the Year, Griffin has dominated. The 6-10 sophomore forward leads the team, averaging 23.0 points and 19.3 rebounds a game.

Griffin saved his best performance for a meeting with another Player of the Year candidate on Tuesday. He scored 25 points and grabbed 21 rebounds, leading the Sooners to an 82-78 win against No. 21 Davidson despite a career-high 44 points from Stephen Curry.

Griffin should have no problem duplicating that performance against Gardner-Webb, which has opened its season with a pair of narrow losses.

The Runnin' Bulldogs dropped a three-point decision to Virginia Tech during their campaign opener on November 14 before suffering an 85-84 setback to Longwood on Tuesday.
