Pendergraph leads Arizona State against Baylor

Nov 28, 2008 - 1:44 PM No. 14 Arizona State (4-0) vs. Baylor (5-0) 12:30 a.m. EST

ANAHEIM, California (Ticker) -- Arizona State hopes Jeff Pendergraph has found his scoring touch for good.

Pendergraph and 14th-ranked Arizona State look to remain undefeated on Friday when they face Baylor in the semifinals of the 76 Classic.

The senior forward, Pendergraph scored a season-high 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the Sun Devils over Charlotte, 84-56, on Thursday in the opening round of the tournament.

Expected to provide a talented Arizona State team with leadership and a low-post presence, Pendergraph entered that contest having scored only 23 points total in his previous three games. His breakout enabled Arizona State to open a season with four consecutive wins for the first time in three years.

The Sun Devils hope Pendergraph can build on that performance against Baylor, which claimed a 72-56 victory against Providence during its first-round game Thursday.

Kevin Rogers scored 16 points to lead four players in double figures for the Bears. Curtis Jerrells and Tweety Carter added 11 points apiece while LaceDarius Dunn contributed 12 off the bench.
