Thabeet, Connecticut set to face undersized Delaware State

STORRS, Connecticut (Ticker) -- Hasheem Thabeet may have his way in the paint Monday when second-ranked Connecticut hosts Delware State.

The reigning Defensive Player of the Year, Thabeet led five players in double figures with 16 points in an 88-58 win over Bryant on Saturday. The 7-3 junior from Tanzania also added 12 rebounds and three blocks.

Thabeet is averaging 14.2 points, 10.8 rebounds and 4.2 blocks this season and should dominate the Hornets, who don't have a player taller than 6-7.

Thabeet and the Huskies will look to improve to 57-4 all-time at Gampel Pavilion vs. non-conference opponents.

They will face a tired Delaware State team has lost eight straight and is wrapping up an eight-game, 15-day road trip. Frisco Sandidge had a career-high 21 points and pulled down seven rebounds in a 69-65 loss to Longwood in the Las Vegas Invitational on Saturday.
