Aminu leads Wake Forest against Indiana

Dec 3, 2008 - 12:54 PM Indiana (4-2) at No. 17 Wake Forest (6-0) 7:15 pm. EST

WINSTON-SALEM, North Carolina (Ticker) -- A pair of talented freshmen face off on Wednesday when Al-Farouq Aminu and 17th-ranked Wake Forest clash with Tom Pritchard and Indiana in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.

The Demon Deacons are off to their best start in five years thanks in part to the addition of Aminu, a former McDonald's All-American.

Wake Forest defeated Baylor, 87-74, in the championship game of the 76 Classic in Anaheim, California on Sunday to improve to 6-0 for the first time since winning 11 straight to start the 2003-04 season.

Aminu was a highly-regarded recruit and has lived up to the hype thus far. He recorded his third double-double of the season with 13 points and 12 rebounds in the win over the Bears.

The 6-9, 215-pound Norcross, Georgia native is averaging 13.3 points and a team-best 9.5 rebounds.

Aminu will be matched up with Pritchard, who will try to lead the Hoosiers to a third straight win. Pritchard hit all seven of his field goal attempts en route to 23 points in a 72-57 win over Cornell on Sunday.

Pritchard is averaging a team-best 15.8 points and 7.5 rebounds.

Wake Forest beat Indiana, 100-67, in their only other meeting back in December 2003.
