Another easy victory likely in store for Connecticut

Dec 4, 2008 - 11:21 AM No. 2 Connecticut (7-0) at Buffalo (3-2) 7:00 p.m. EST

Connecticut has yet to face a stern test and that trend will not end anytime soon.

Second-ranked Connecticut goes for its eighth straight win when it visits Buffalo on Thursday.

UConn has played a pair of ranked teams in the early going that were no match for the Huskies.

After a trio of lopsided wins against lesser opponents to begin the season, Connecticut met then-No. 16 Miami, Florida in the semifinals of the Paradise Jam. The Huskies had no problem vanquishing the Hurricanes as Hasheem Thabeet recorded 19 points on 8-of-11 shooting, 14 rebounds and seven blocks en route to a 76-63 victory.

Connecticut faced another ranked team in the finals, but the result was the same. The Huskies shot a blistering 52 percent (25-of-48) from the field, throttling then-No. 19 Wisconsin, 76-57, on November 24.

Since that win, Connecticut has claimed 30-point victories against Bryant and Delaware State.

Despite facing their first true road test of the season, the Huskies should have no problem downing Buffalo, which is coming off an 83-73 victory against Temple on Saturday.

Calvin Betts scored 18 points and added seven rebounds while Greg Gamble scored 15 points for the Bulls, who had dropped each of their previous two games.
