Davidson hopes to hand N.C. State its first loss

Dec 6, 2008 - 11:23 AM N.C. State (4-0) at No. 24 Davidson (5-1), 12:00 p.m. EST

DAVIDSON, North Carolina (Ticker) -- Loyola, Maryland found a way to stop Stephen Curry, but it came at a price. North Carolina State probably wants to try a different approach.

No. 24 Davidson looks to win its fourth straight game when it hosts N.C. State on Saturday.

Curry had scored at least 29 points in each of the Wildcats' first five games before he was held scoreless for the first time in his career against Loyola, Maryland on November 25.

The junior sharpshooter was double-teamed all over the court - even when he did not have the ball - and with the rest of the team playing with an advantage, Davidson cruised to a 78-48 victory.

Curry is still averaging 29.2 points and seven assists per game and had 29 in Davidson's 66-65 setback against N.C. State last season.

North Carolina State is off to its fourth 4-0 start in the last five seasons and is coming off a 79-52 victory against North Carolina-Greensboro on Sunday.

Courtney Fells scored 22 points in the win and leads the Wildcats in scoring at 16 points per contest. Ben McCauley is averaging 15.3 points and 9.3 rebounds.
