Pittsburgh aims for another home win

PITTSBURGH (Ticker) -- Third-ranked Pittsburgh looks to continue taking advantage of the Petersen Events Center when it hosts Vermont on Saturday.

The Panthers have won 33 consecutive home games against non-conference opponents and have used their home floor to get off to another fast start. Pittsburgh is 6-0 at home.

Under coach Jamie Dixon, Pittsburgh has begun each of the past five seasons at least 10-0.

The Panthers cruised to a 78-51 victory over Duquesne on Wednesday. Sam Young had 23 points and DeJuan Blair had 14 and 17 rebounds for Pittsburgh.

Vermont has won three straight contests and is coming off an 88-71 triumph over Dartmouth on Tuesday.

Marqus Blakely had 27 points and 11 rebounds in the win and the 6-5 junior forward leads the Catamounts in both categories at 18.3 and 9.0 per contest.
