Kansas meets lowly Jackson State

Dec 6, 2008 - 11:21 AM Jackson State (1-7) at No. 25 Kansas (6-1) 2:00 p.m. EST

LAWRENCE, Kansas (Ticker) -- Kansas should have no trouble earning its fourth straight win on Saturday when it hosts Jackson State.

While it was not No. 25 Kansas' most convincing home victory, the Jayhawks still had too much size and skill for New Mexico State on Wednesday, forging a 100-79 victory.

Freshman Tyshawn Taylor poured in a season-high 23 points and leading scorer Sherron Collins had 15 and 11 assists for Kansas, which won its 29th consecutive home game.

Cole Aldrich scored all 13 of his points in the second half and added 13 rebounds as the Jayhawks recorded the game's first six points and never trailed.

Kansas led by as many as 11 in the first half but went scoreless for more than four minutes as the Aggies closed within 31-27 with 2:49 to play in the half.

New Mexico State never got any closer and the Jayhawks pulled away when Taylor capped a sequence of five straight made baskets, pushing the lead to 77-57 with just over seven minutes remaining.

Jackson State enters off an 81-60 setback to No. 19 Arizona State on Thursday, dropping its second straight game after forging its only win of the season - a 20-point victory against North Carolina Central last Saturday.
