Oklahoma looks to keep rolling

Dec 10, 2008 - 11:35 AM Maine (5-4) at No. 5 Oklahoma (8-0), 8:00 p.m. EST

NORMAN, Oklahoma (Ticker) -- Off to its best start in five years, fifth-ranked Oklahoma eyes its ninth straight win when it hosts Maine on Wednesday.

The Sooners have won their first eight contests for the first time since they started 10-0 in 2003-04.

Oklahoma is coming off a 69-44 triumph over Tulsa on Sunday, marking the first time it has held an opponent to less than 50 points.

Blake Griffin had 19 points and nine rebounds in the win, falling short of a double-double for the second straight game after beginning the season with six in a row. The sophomore is averaging 24.8 points and 16.3 rebounds.

Griffin could record monster numbers against the Bears, who have just one player in their regular rotation above 6-7.

Following a four-game losing streak, Maine has gotten back on track with two straight wins, including Monday's 67-56 triumph over Colgate.

Mark Socoby scored 21 points in the win and leads the Bears at 15.3 per contest.
