Teague, Wake Forest look to remain undefeated

Dec 14, 2008 - 8:21 AM Wright St. (2-6) at (11) Wake Forest (8-0) 4:00 p.m. EST

WINSTON-SALEM, North Carolina (Ticker) -- Jeff Teague and No. 11 Wake Forest are hoping an extended break for finals didn't slow their momentum.

The Demon Deacons rolled through the first part of their schedule and will attempt to pick up where they left off when they face Wright State on Sunday.

Wake Forest has scored over 80 points in each of its last four games but is coming off an eight-day break for final exams. Teague, a sophomore guard, has been at the heart of the scoring explosion, leading the Atlantic Coast Conference by averaging 20.6 points per game.

Teague poured in 26 points on 9-of-14 shooting, including 4-of-6 from beyond the arc, to lead the Deacons into their exam break with an 81-52 victory over Bucknell on December 6. L.D. Williams chipped in 13 points.

Teague and company have gotten a boost from freshman Al-Farouq Aminu, who is averaging 12.3 points and leads all ACC freshman with nine rebounds per contest.

Wright State suffered through a six-game losing streak but has responded with two straight wins, including a 62-55 triumph at Arkansas-Little Rock on Friday.

Junior forward Cory Cooperwood led the way with 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting in the win and ranks second on the team in scoring at 10.8 points per game. Vaughn Duggins is the Raiders' top scorer, averaging 11.8 points.
