UCLA eyes easy victory against winless cross-state rival

Dec 17, 2008 - 11:16 AM Loyola Marymount (0-10) at No. 12 UCLA (6-2) 11:00 p.m. EST

LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- UCLA's backcourt trio has the team on the verge of its first three-game win streak.

Even a sub-par performance from Josh Shipp, Jrue Holiday and Darren Collison may be enough to lead 12th-ranked UCLA past Loyola Marymount on Wednesday.

Shipp and the freshman Holiday scored 14 points apiece as the Burins had few issues with DePaul en route to a 72-54 victory on Saturday in the Wooden Classic.

Collison had 10 points and five assists for UCLA, which improved to 9-3 in the event named after their legendary former coach, including 8-0 when participating as a ranked team.

Shipp (11.5 points), Holiday (11.1) and Collison (15.0) are the only players averaging double-figures for UCLA. That should not matter against winless Loyola Marymount.

The Lions are averaging 55.0 points per game but are surrendering 69.6.

Loyola Marymount dropped six of its first 10 games by double digits, but lost by seven points for the second time in the last three contests during a 59-52 setback against UC Riverside on Monday.
