Illness not keeping Harangody down

Dec 20, 2008 - 3:23 PM Delaware State (2-12) at No. 14 Notre Dame (7-2) 7:00 p.m. EST

SOUTH BEND, Indiana (Ticker) -- A bout with pneumonia did little to slow down Luke Harangody.

Harangody and 14th-ranked Notre Dame aim for their 42nd straight home win on Saturday when they host Delaware State.

The reigning Big East Player of the Year, Harangody was forced to sit out the last game of November and the first of December after suffering the illness.

He returned on December 6 and recorded 25 points and 16 rebounds, but it was not enough as the Fighting Irish dropped a 67-62 decision to then-unranked Ohio State.

Notre Dame's leading scorer and rebounder, Harangody helped his team bounce back from its second loss of the season last Saturday, recording his fourth double-double with 23 points and 15 rebounds en route to a 74-67 triumph over Boston University.

Delaware State has struggled for much of the campaign and have dropped three straight games, including a 60-55 loss to Rutgers on Sunday.

Donald Johnson is averaging 11 points per game to lead the Hornets, who have played nine games on the road and two others at neutral sites thus far.
