Wake Forest hopes to remain perfect

GREENVILLE, North Carolina (Ticker) -- Wake Forest survived its first road game on Friday. The sixth-ranked Demon Deacons are now hoping for an easier time on Monday when they visit East Carolina.

Playing its first true road game of the season, Wake Forest held on for an 86-79 victory at Richmond. The Demon Deacons led for nearly the entire game but were up by just four with 1:53 remaining.

Jeff Teague scored 21 points and Chas McFarland added 20 and 14 rebounds to lead Wake Forest. Teague leads the club in scoring at 19.6 points per game.

The Pirates had their five-game winning streak snapped with an 87-76 setback at North Carolina State on Wednesday.

Sam Hinnant leads four players in double figures at 17.5 points per game for East Carolina.
