Contrasting styles clash as UCLA host Wyoming

Dec 23, 2008 - 11:11 AM Wyoming (9-1) at No. 10 UCLA (8-2) 10:30 pm. EST

LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- UCLA's highly touted defense will be put to the test on Tuesday when the 10th-ranked Bruins host high-scoring Wyoming.

Known for its stifling defense over the years, UCLA has held its opponents to 57.8 points per game and 42.2 percent shooting.

The Bruins forced 20 turnovers en route to a 76-59 win over Mercer on Saturday - their 34th straight home win over unranked, non-conference opponents. Darren Collison led the way, scoring 20 points.

UCLA (8-2) may have a tough time slowing the Cowboys, who are averaging 84.2 points and have scored over 90 points four times. Wyoming (9-1) is off to its best start since 1990-91.

The Cowboys had three players score at least 20 points in a 93-70 win over Sacramento State on Saturday. The reigning Mountain West Player of the Week, Sean Ogirri hit 7-of-13 3-pointers en route to a team-high 25 points.

Wyoming boasts a deadly outside game, having connected on 44.9 percent of its 3-point attempts (22-of-49) in the last two games.

The Bruins have won five of the six meetings between the teams.
