Hansbrough, North Carolina look to keep rolling
Dec 28, 2008 - 6:09 AM Rutgers (9-3) at No. 1 North Carolina (11-0), 7:45 p.m. ESTCHAPEL HILL, North Carolina (Ticker) -- After an injury-filled start, Tyler Hansbrough seems to be hitting his stride.
The senior forward looks to stay hot when top-ranked North Carolina hosts Rutgers on Sunday.
Hansbrough missed the first four contests of his collegiate career earlier in the campaign with a stress reaction in his right shin and a nagging ankle injury.
Last season's consensus National Player of the Year has played in each of the last four games, however, scoring at least 20 points in each.
Following a win over Evansville that saw Hansbrough become the school's all-time leading scorer, the senior had 25 points as the Tar Heels won, 85-63, at Valparaiso on December 20. He leads five Tar Heels in double figures at 22.7 points per game.
Rutgers is six games over .500 for the first time since the 2005-06 campaign and comes in on a four-game winning streak. The Scarlet Knights defeated New Jersey Institute of Technology, 78-52, on Tuesday.
Freshman Mike Rosario is averaging 16.8 points per game to lead Rutgers, which has lost to North Carolina in each of the past two seasons.
