Louisville will try to cool down UNLV
Dec 31, 2008 - 2:53 PM UNLV (11-2) at No. 18 Louisville (8-2), 6:00 p.m. ESTLOUISVILLE, Kentucky (Ticker) -- No. 18 Louisville will try and snap Nevada-Las Vegas' six-game winning streak when the two teams clash Wednesday.
The Cardinals are a perfect 7-0 this season at Freedom Hall, which includes Saturday's 82-62 triumph over Alabama-Birmingham.
Terrence Williams had one of his best games of the season with 21 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists for Louisville, which shot 50 percent (31-of-62).
Freshman forward Samardo Samuels is averaging 15.2 points and seven rebounds this season. Earl Clark is second at 13.4 points and 8.8 rebounds.
The Cardinals' size will be important against the Rebels, whose strength lies in the backcourt.
Wink Adams is averaging 14.1 points to lead UNLV, but he played only 10 minutes in the team's 73-60 victory over Southern Utah on December 23 due to a back injury.
Rene Rougeau scored 16 points and is averaging 11.1 points with 8.1 rebounds this season.
