Baylor hosts skidding Jackson State

Dec 31, 2008 - 2:57 PM Jackson State (1-10) at No. 20 Baylor (11-1) 5:00 p.m. EST

WACO, Texas (Ticker) -- Baylor's conditioning will be put to the test as it continues a stretch of three games in five days prior to conference play in the Big 12.

It should have no problem in its second game against Jackson State on Wednesday.

The Bears have won five straight after their lone loss of the season to then-No. 24 Wake Forest on November 30.

LaceDarius Dunn scored 22 points off the bench in Baylor's last game, a 79-66 win over upset-minded Portland State on Monday. The Vikings already had beaten Gonzaga this season.

Curtis Jerrells is leading the Bears with 17.1 points per game, including a triple-double on December 22 against Hartford. The senior had 17 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists in the 74-59 win.

Baylor plays South Carolina on Friday before its Big 12 opener against Texas Tech on January 10.

Jackson State has not fared well against its two previous ranked opponents, losing to Kansas and Arizona State by an average of 22.5 points.

Darrion Griffin had 15 points and nine rebounds in a 70-51 loss to Southeastern Louisiana on December 20, the Tigers' fifth straight defeat.
