Xavier hoping to get back in win column
Dec 31, 2008 - 2:57 PM Robert Morris (6-6) at No. 22 Xavier (9-2), 6:00 p.m. ESTCINCINNATI (Ticker) -- Following a somewhat unexpected fast start, Xavier has come back down to earth.
The 22nd-ranked Musketeers hope to snap a two-game losing skid when they host Robert Morris on Wednesday.
Xavier lost three starters from last season's team that reached the regional finals, but still managed to begin the campaign with nine straight wins.
However, the Musketeers - who were ranked as high as seventh - suffered a blowout loss to Duke before losing at home, 74-65, to Butler on December 23.
Derrick Brown scored 17 points in the loss and the junior leads the team in scoring at 14.6 per game.
Robert Morris had its two-game winning streak snapped with an 88-62 setback to Duquesne on Sunday.
Jeremy Chappell scored 18 points in the loss and the senior leads the team in scoring at 17 per game.
