Kansas looking for marquee win
Jan 3, 2009 - 1:23 PM No. 18 Tennessee (9-2) at Kansas (9-3), 2:00 p.m. ESTLAWRENCE, Kansas (Ticker) -- In its national title defense, Kansas is still looking for its first win over a big-name opponent.
The team will get another chance on Saturday when the Jayhawks host 18th-ranked Tennessee.
Kansas is 2-2 in its last four games, dropping games to Massachusetts and Arizona. The Jayhawks also have a loss to Syracuse.
Cole Aldrich scored 20 points as the Jayhawks posted a 79-43 victory over Albany on Tuesday. Sherron Collins had a season-low seven points but the junior leads the team in scoring at 16.9 per game.
Tennessee enters on a three-game winning streak, including Monday's 89-62 victory over Louisiana-Lafayette.
Wayne Chism had 18 points and 15 rebounds before leaving with a back injury after a hard foul. He is expected to play against Kansas.
Tyler Smith is averaging 16.9 points to lead the Volunteers, but the junior had a season-low 10 in Monday's win.
It will be the first meeting between the two schools.
